Buses from Málaga Airport: lines, stops, times and fares
Every scheduled bus and coach at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport that a passenger can use boards on the Arrivals kerb, Floor 0, apart from one metropolitan line that stops beside the railway station. This page explains which bus to take, where it leaves from, how much it costs and when the last one goes, and where a bus will not get you without a change. For the train, taxis and car hire, see getting to and from the airport.

EMT line A runs from the Arrivals stop on Floor 0 to Paseo del Parque in central Málaga for €4, luggage free, paid on board by card or cash. From the airport it runs from 07:00 until 01:15 on weekdays and 01:10 at weekends, roughly every 20–30 minutes. Avanza coaches from the same stop serve Marbella, San Pedro, Estepona, La Línea and Algeciras, and ALSA coaches call on some Nerja, Motril, Granada and Seville services. No bus runs from the terminal to Torremolinos, Benalmádena or Fuengirola: take the C-1 train.

Where to catch the bus
Leave baggage reclaim, go out of the Arrivals hall on Floor 0 and walk to the kerbside stop. Its official name is Aeropuerto – Llegadas (Airport – Arrivals), Avenida Comandante García Morato 75. EMT line A, Avanza and ALSA all use it, and Aena lists it as "Floor 0, Arrivals".
Avanza's ticket office is directly opposite the T3 Arrivals exit, open every day from 07:45 to 23:00 (checked 9 October 2026). ALSA does not confirm an airport ticket desk of its own, so buy ALSA tickets online or through ALSA before you travel.
Departing passengers are set down at the same Arrivals stop. Check-in is one floor up, on Floor 1, so allow a few minutes to get there.
Line A to Málaga city centre
EMT Málaga's line A, officially "Paseo del Parque – Aeropuerto (Exprés)", is the airport express to the city centre. Its city terminus is on the Paseo del Parque by Plaza de la Marina. On the way it calls at Málaga bus station, which is next to María Zambrano railway station.
Where to get off coming from the airport:
- Estación de Autobuses (about 17–19 minutes): Málaga bus station and, a short walk away, María Zambrano station.
- Alameda Principal – Sur: the Alameda, the port and the edge of the historic centre.
- Parque – Pl. Marina or Parque – Torrijos (end of the line): Plaza de la Marina, the Paseo del Parque and the port promenade.
Line A stops only at its fixed stops, never at hotel doors. From Plaza de la Marina, plan the last stretch on foot, by taxi from a city rank or on a connecting EMT line.
Line A stops
The route is not the same in both directions: there are 13 stops towards the airport and 15 coming back, through the Huelin district. Boarding and alighting stops on the Alameda are on opposite sides of the avenue.
Towards the airport: Parque – Torrijos, Parque – Pl. Marina, Alameda Principal – Norte, Av. Andalucía – Guadalmedina, Estación de Autobuses (bay 39), Héroe de Sostoa – Estación, Héroe de Sostoa – Obras Públicas, Héroe de Sostoa – Girón, Velázquez – La Luz/La Paz, Velázquez – Puerta Blanca, Velázquez – Azucarera, Velázquez – Villa Rosa, Aeropuerto – Llegadas.
From the airport: Aeropuerto – Llegadas, Aeropuerto – AENA, Aeroclub, Velázquez – Villa Rosa, Velázquez – Azucarera, Velázquez – Puerta Blanca, Velázquez – La Luz/La Paz, Paloma – Girón, La Hoz – Mercado de Huelin, Ayala – Los Arcos, Estación de Autobuses (bay 39), Av. Andalucía – Guadalmedina, Alameda Principal – Sur, Parque – Pl. Marina, Parque – Torrijos.
Aeropuerto – AENA and Aeroclub are on the airport access roads, not at the terminal, and are served only in the direction away from the airport. Going to the airport from the Alameda, wait at Alameda Principal – Norte, on the north side of the avenue. At the bus station, line A uses bay 39.

Times from the Ayuntamiento de Málaga's open timetable data for EMT, checked 9 October 2026. Buses run roughly every 20–30 minutes, with longer gaps late in the evening and a wait of over an hour before the last departure. End to end the trip takes about 24–33 minutes at weekends and up to about 40 minutes in the weekday evening peak, when traffic on Avenida Velázquez slows it down.
Fare: €4 single, luggage carried free, paid to the driver by Visa, Mastercard or cash (Aena, checked 9 October 2026). The Consorcio's fare table, valid until 31 December 2026, lists line A as a special-fare line at €4.00 with the transport card too, so the card saves nothing on this route.
Not a 24-hour service. After about 01:15 there is no EMT bus from the airport until 07:00. If you land late, use a taxi, a ride-hailing car or a pre-booked transfer; see our taxi page.
If you plan to travel on line A with a wheelchair, pushchair, bicycle or pet, check EMT's rules on (+34) 952 367 200 before travelling.
Metropolitan line M-135
M-135 (Málaga – Aeropuerto – Santa Amalia) is run by Autocares Vázquez Olmedo for the Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano del Área de Málaga. It links Málaga bus station, the airport, Alhaurín de la Torre and Santa Amalia, and is the only metropolitan line that stops at the airport.
Where it stops. Since 1 August 2025 the metropolitan bus stop has been in front of the Cercanías station, not at the old roadside stop. No step-free route from there to the terminal door is published, so with heavy luggage or reduced mobility use the train, a taxi, or book assistance rather than assuming a level walk. Aena's own bus page still names a stop at the cargo terminal; that stop is more than a kilometre from the passenger terminal along service roads and is no use to a passenger.
Timetable (valid 1 August 2025 to 31 December 2030, checked 9 October 2026):
- From Málaga bus station towards the airport and Santa Amalia: Monday to Saturday every 45 minutes from 07:00 to 22:00; Sundays and public holidays every 90 minutes from 07:00 to 22:00. Every journey calls at the airport stop.
- From Santa Amalia towards the airport and Málaga, the journeys that call at the airport stop leave Santa Amalia at 07:45, 09:15, 10:45, 12:15, 13:45, 15:15, 16:45, 18:15, 19:45 and 21:15 on Monday to Saturday, and at 07:00, 10:00, 13:00, 16:00 and 19:00 on Sundays and public holidays, reaching the airport about 47 minutes later. The other journeys do not stop there.
For most passengers line A or the train is the better choice. Information: Consorcio, 955 038 665.
"Airport" stops that are not at the terminal
Two groups of stops carry the word "Aeropuerto" but are on the main road past the airport junction, more than a kilometre from the terminal, with no published walking route:
- Cruce Aeropuerto, served by metropolitan lines M-110 (to Torremolinos and Benalmádena Costa), M-112 (Mijas), M-113 (Fuengirola), M-132, M-133 and M-230.
- Velázquez – Aeropuerto, served by EMT city lines 9 and 10.
If a journey planner offers one of these lines "to the airport", it is offering a roadside drop. That is also why there is no bus from the terminal to Torremolinos, Benalmádena or Fuengirola: use the C-1 train, described on our transport page.
Avanza coaches: Marbella, Estepona, La Línea, Algeciras
Avanza runs the coaches west along the Costa del Sol from the Arrivals stop. Its timetable valid from 14 September 2026 (checked 9 October 2026) shows:
- Marbella (about 45 minutes): around 40 departures a day from 08:45 to 23:59. Some run on weekdays only. The 23:15 and 23:59 departures are advance sale only: buy online or at the office before it closes at 23:00, not from the driver. From Marbella to the airport, first 05:30, last 00:50.
- Estepona (about 1 h 15): direct departures from 08:45 to 22:05. From Estepona, first 05:00, last 22:25.
- San Pedro de Alcántara (about 55 minutes), La Línea de la Concepción and Algeciras (about 1 h 55): some journeys are through services, others need a change of coach in Marbella. The timetable marks these with "Cambio de bus en Marbella".
- Ronda: no direct coach. Four daily connections (airport 08:45, 10:00, 15:20 and 21:05) change in Marbella.
- Gibraltar: no coach goes into Gibraltar. Travel to La Línea de la Concepción and cross the frontier on foot.
| From the airport to | Ordinary | Multimedia | Exprés |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marbella | €6.48 | €8.70 | €9.30 |
| San Pedro de Alcántara | €7.68 | – | – |
| Estepona | €10.24 | €12.00 | €12.50 |
| La Línea de la Concepción | €16.03 | €18.00 | €19.30 |
| Algeciras | €17.70 | €19.80 | €21.70 |
Fares from Avanza's fare sheet in force from 1 June 2026, checked 9 October 2026. "Multimedia" and "Exprés" are service classes, not destinations, and the Junta's "Sesentaycinco" card fare is not accepted on them.
Avanza's conditions: children under four pay 50% of the fare; pushchairs travel folded in the hold on long-distance services; bicycles go in the hold, packed, with the front wheel removed; electric scooters are not allowed; pets travel only on services with a hold, in your own carrier, while assistance dogs are admitted. Drivers on long-distance services need not give change for amounts over €20. Bookings and information: avanzabus.com or (+34) 91 272 28 32.
ALSA coaches: Nerja, Motril, Granada, Seville
ALSA lists "Aeropuerto Málaga – Cost. Sol" as a stop on its Nerja, Motril, Granada and Seville routes. The airport is one of several Málaga stops on those routes, and not every service calls there. When you book, select the airport stop by name, not just "Málaga". ALSA does not publish a separate airport timetable, so check departures in its search for your date. Its overnight service from Granada (02:00) reaches the airport at 03:45.
ALSA's conditions (checked 9 October 2026): one suitcase or rucksack up to 20 kg free plus a small item for the overhead rack; extra baggage up to 25 kg from €5 per journey; bicycles €10, in a bag with the front wheel removed; wheelchair spaces must be booked more than 36 hours ahead. Most tickets can be changed or cancelled up to two hours before departure. If you miss the coach, the ticket is lost with no refund, and a late flight does not change that. Information: 902 422 242.
FlixBus: confirm before you rely on it
Aena lists FlixBus line N1795 (Córdoba, Évora, Lisbon) and line N1796 (Lagos) as calling at the Arrivals stop. FlixBus's own website shows only Málaga bus station as its Málaga stop and, when checked on 9 October 2026, described the Málaga–Lisbon connection as not currently available. Until FlixBus confirms an airport stop, check with FlixBus on (+34) 919 010 632 or [email protected] before planning to board at the airport. Line A reaches Málaga bus station in about 17–19 minutes.
The coach station on level -1
Below Arrivals, on level -1, Aena shows a coach station with docks 1–20 and 26–50, built in the 2010 expansion to hold 50 coaches. The scheduled services on this page board at the Floor 0 stop instead. If your transfer is part of a package holiday, find your tour operator's desk in the arrivals area first: your representative will tell you where your coach leaves from. The transfer is the tour operator's responsibility, not Aena's.
